An Artificial Lake at the Heart of Roussillon

Initially designed to support local agriculture and secure water resources, the lake spans nearly 2.3 km² and is fed by a canal diverted from the Têt River. It can store up to 22 million m³ of water, making it a strategic reserve during droughts and a vital resource for wildfire prevention.

The site features three distinct water reservoirs, each with its own identity:

  • The ecological reserve: 14 protected hectares home to migratory birds and freshwater turtles — no fishing or tourism activities allowed.
